P A P E R W O R K S
It was late afternoon on an autumnal day back in 2019 whist painting at the Porthmeor Studios that my first paper works formed. A little documentation of the landscape, using colours left over on my palette at the end of the day....masked out with painters tape, simple brush strokes, bold colours and a scribbled pencil title to mark the moment. Ever since, ‘works on paper’ have become an integral part of my practice, often forming collections which I would every so often launch on my website. As my practice has evolved, the paintings on paper have been a way of capturing daily rhythms with a sense of immediacy to them, with a focus on colour and composition.
‘Paper Works’ will become a weekly ritual - every Saturday morning I will launch a little series of works on my website - an edit from my week in the studio, always seasonal and always with a sense of daily life. As my life in Cornwall and my ideas within my practice evolve, these weekly edits will look to document these shifts that surround me…
